A perfect day in Grainau: bike tour to the Häselgehr waterfall

I had visitors today and a trip by bike is announced. It should be a nice tour route of approx. 40 km. That gives me the idea to drive to the Häselgehr Waterfall near Ehrwald. The route is fairly flat and suitable for anyone who likes to travel comfortably by bike.
Tour profile
Difficulty level: easy
Route length: approx. 40 km (total)
ascents: 260 hm
descents: 260 hm
11:00 a.m.: We start by bike from the Hotel am Badersee and first drive all the way down Eibseestraße or Loisachstraße until we reach the main road. Here we cross the road and cycle down to the parking lot on the Loisach. Cross the river over the bridge and then turn left parallel to the river. The trail is beautifully shady as it is lined with trees. It is also further away from the main road, so you don't notice much of the traffic. We follow the trail to the point where the main road crosses the Loisach. Here we have to drive under the bridge and just push the wheels up steps on the other side. Then continue on the cycle path that runs parallel to the main road. The Loisach continues to accompany us on the left side.

11:30 a.m.: We reach Griesen, the last settlement before the Austrian border. From here, a beautiful Cycle path to Lake Plansee in Austria. On the other hand, we continue straight ahead towards Ehrwald. The cycle path is getting farther and farther away from the main road, so that the car noises also subside. Time and again, we have beautiful views along the course of the river.

Around 12:00 p.m.: We cross the Loisach once again and after we have left the wooden bridge behind us, it is not far to the Häselgehr waterfall. After about 19 km, we have reached our current tour destination and park the bikes on the railing. From the railing, you can easily see the enormous height of the waterfall, which plunges into the depths of about 61 m and flows into the Loisach.

It is quite lonely at the waterfall, except for a few daredevil climbers who have just abseiled down from the waterfall, there are no other visitors here. So much better for us. We'll find a nice spot and stretch out our limbs. A shower in the waterfall would be nice, but the water is pretty cool. So it's better just to cool your feet down a bit. It's a wonderful place to relax right now. The rippling of water is calming, we could probably spend quite a while here if our stomachs didn't speak up slowly and demand a meal.

12:40 p.m.: After taking a lovely leisurely break at the waterfall, we give in to our stomachs and get back on the bikes. We briefly consider whether we want to drive all the way to Ehrwald or Lermoos to stop off somewhere there. But the risk is too great for us that we will then be so full that we only want to travel back by train. So it's better to go back to Grainau.

1:40 p.m.: The way back is easier than the way out, because it's leisurely downhill. Once back in Grainau, we are now enjoying ourselves, we have certainly consumed enough calories for a hearty meal.
